I came carrying a heavy stone, wearing a light lower garment. My garment came undone while I was holding the stone, and I could not set the stone down until I had brought it to its place.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Go back to your garment and take it. Do not walk about naked."
أقبلت بحجر أحمله ثقيل، وعلي إزار خفيف، قال: فانحل إزاري ومعي الحجر، ولم أستطع أن أضعه حتى بلغت به إلى موضعه، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: ارجع إلى ثوبك فخذه، ولا تمشوا عراة.
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on menstruation (341), from Saeed bin Yahya Umawi, who said, my father narrated to me, Uthman bin Hakeem bin Abbad bin Hunayf Ansari narrated to us, Abu Umama bin Sahl bin Hunayf informed me, from Miswar bin Makhrama, and he related the hadith.In Sunan Abu Dawud (4016), from Ismail bin Ibrahim, from Yahya bin Saeed, with the same chain, "I was carrying a heavy stone, and while I was walking it fell from me," meaning his garment, and he related the rest of the hadith in the same way.
