Bukhari in the Book of Prayer (364), and this is his wording, and Muslim in the Book of Menstruation (340), both of them via Rawh bin Ubada, who said, Zakariya bin Ishaq narrated to us, who said, Amr bin Dinar narrated to us with the same account.In another version reported by both of them, Bukhari (1582, 3829), it states, "He fell to the ground, and his eyes turned upward toward the sky, and he said, 'My waist-wrap!' So it was fastened on him." And in another version, "My waist-wrap! My waist-wrap!"This incident took place before the beginning of the Prophet's mission ﷺ, and Jabir's narration of it belongs to the mursal reports of the companions. The scholars are agreed on accepting the mursal reports of the companions, and it was on this basis that the two sheikhs, Bukhari and Muslim, built their methodology in their two Sahihs. Jabir either heard this directly from the Prophet ﷺ, or from one of the companions who was present when it happened.Ibn Hajar says, "What appears to be the case is that it was Abbas, and his son Abdullah also narrated it on the authority of Abbas." Fath al-Bari (1/474).His statement "his eyes turned upward" (with fatha on the ta and mim) means they were raised upward.The hadith contains an illustration of some of the honor that Allah bestowed upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in that He kept him protected and safeguarded in his childhood from indecent acts and the ways of the pre-Islamic era.
