A foul-smelling wind blew during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Some of the hypocrites have spoken ill of certain Muslims behind their backs, so this wind has been sent because of that."
هاجت ريح منتنة على عهد رسول الله ﷺ، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: إن ناسا من المنافقين اغتابوا أناسا من المسلمين، فبعثت هذه الريح لذلك.
Abd bin Humayd (1028), Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (733), and Kharaiti in Masawi al-Akhlaq (187) all narrated it through Fudayl bin Iyad, from Sulayman, who is Amash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Abu Sufyan is Talha bin Nafi, whose hadith is hasan, but what Amash narrated from him is sahih, and this is one of those narrations.
