The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do you know what slander is?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He said, "It is transmitting talk from some people to others in order to cause discord between them."
قال النبي ﷺ: أتدرون العضه؟ قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم قال: نقل الحديث من بعض الناس إلى بعض ليفسدوا بينهم.

Bukhari reported it in Adab al-Mufrad (424), and Bayhaqi (10/246–247), both from the hadith of Yazid bin Abu Habib, from Sinan bin Saad, from Anas, who mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Sinan bin Saad, for there is disagreement about him, but his hadith is hasan when he does not err, since he used to err frequently.
