It was narrated by Abu Dawud (2557), and from his route Bayhaqi (5/254), from Musaddad, who said, Abdul-Warith narrated to us, from Ayub, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Ayub is Ibn Abu Tamima Sakhtiyani. It was also narrated by Abu Dawud (2558) and Hakim (342), both from another route, from Amr bin Abu Qays, from Ayub, with the wording, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade riding upon jallalah camels," this being the wording of Abu Dawud, and Hakim added, "and drinking from their milk." For more, see the Book of Foods.Khattabi said, "Jallalah" refers to camels that eat filth, and jallah means dung. He ﷺ disliked riding them just as he forbade eating their meat, and it is said that when camels feed on filth, their odor becomes foul when they sweat, just as their meat becomes foul.
