The Prophet ﷺ said, "Beware of turning the backs of your mounts into pulpits. Allah has only made them subservient to you so that they may carry you to lands you could not otherwise reach without great hardship. He has made the earth for you, so attend to your needs upon it."
عن النبي ﷺ قال إياكم أن تتخذوا ظهور دوابكم منابر، فإن الله إنما سخرها لكم لتبلغكم إلى بلد لم تكونوا بالغيه إلا بشق الأنفس، وجعل لكم الأرض فعليها فاقضوا حاجتكم.
It was narrated by Abu Dawud (2567), and from his route Bayhaqi (5/255), from Abdul-Wahhab bin Najdah, who said, Ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Yahya bin Abu Amr Saybani, from Ibn Abu Maryam, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it.This is a hasan chain because of Abu Maryam, who is the Ansari, for his hadith is hasan, and Ismail bin Ayyash is truthful in his narrations from the people of Sham, and this is one of them, since Yahya bin Abu Amr Saybani is from Hims and is trustworthy.Khattabi said in Maalim (3/394–395), "It has been established from the Prophet ﷺ that he delivered a sermon while mounted on his riding animal, standing upon it. This shows that standing on the backs of riding animals, when done for a need or to achieve a purpose that cannot be attained by dismounting to the ground, is permissible and lawful, and that the prohibition in this matter was directed only at standing on them without a valid reason requiring it, but rather where a person makes it his settled place and takes it as a seat, thereby tiring the animal and harming it for no real benefit."
