قلت يا رسول الله! إني امرأة أشد ضفر رأسي، أفأنقضه لغسل الجنابة؟ قال: لا، إنما يكفيك أن تحثي على رأسك ثلاث حثيات، ثم تفيضين عليك الماء، فتطهرين. وفي رواية: أفأنقضه للحيضة والجنابة؟ قال: لا.
