I spent the night in the house of Maymunah, and the Prophet ﷺ was with her. When the last third of the night came, or part of it, he sat up and looked toward the sky, then recited, "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding" [Aal Imran 3:190].
بت في بيت ميمونة، والنبي ﷺ عندها، فلما كان ثلث الليل الآخر، أو بعضه، قعد فنظر إلى السماء، فقرأ: {إن في خلق السماوات والأرض واختلاف الليل والنهار لآيات لأولي الألباب} [آل عمران: ١٩٠].
Bukhari narrated it in Adab (6215) from Ibn Abu Maryam, who said, Muhammad bin Jafar told us, he said, Sharik informed me, from Kurayb, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.Muslim also narrated it in Salat al-Musafirin (763: (19)) through Ibn Abu Maryam with the same chain, except that he did not mention the full wording of the hadith, but rather mentioned a part of it and said, "and he continued the hadith."
