He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Then the revelation paused for a while. As I was walking, I heard a voice from the sky. I raised my eyes toward the heavens, and there was the angel who had come to me at Hira, seated on a throne between the heavens and the earth."
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول: ثم فتر عني الوحي، فبينا أنا أمشي، سمعت صوتا من السماء، فرفعت بصري إلى السماء، فإذا الملك الذي جاءني بحراء، قاعد على كرسي بين السماء والأرض.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Manners (6214), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (161:255), both through Ibn Shihab, who said, I heard Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman say, Jabir bin Abdullah informed me, and he mentioned it. The wording given here is Bukhari's.
