I heard the Prophet ﷺ say at Nabawah, or Nabaah, "You will soon come to recognize the people of Paradise from the people of the Fire."They asked, "Messenger of Allah, by what?"He replied, "By good praise and bad praise."
سمعت النبي ﷺ بالنباوة أو بالنباة يقول: يوشك أن تعرفوا لأهل الجنة من أهل النار قالوا: يا رسول الله بم؟ قال: بالثناء الحسن، والثناء السيئ.
Bazzar (1134) narrated it from Hasan bin Arafah, who said, Shuja bin Walid narrated to us, who said, Hashim bin Hashim narrated to us, from Amir bin Saad, from his father, who said, and then he mentioned it.Bazzar said, "We do not know this hadith to be narrated from Saad except through this route with this chain, and we do not know anyone to have narrated it from Saad except Amir, nor from Amir except Hashim bin Hashim, nor from Hashim bin Hashim except Shuja, and we have not heard it except from Hasan bin Arafah."Its chain is hasan because of Hasan bin Arafah and his teacher Shuja bin Walid, for they are both graded hasan in narration.Haythami said in al-Majma (10/271), "Bazzar narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih except for Hasan bin Arafah, and he is trustworthy."His statement, "at Nabawah," refers to a place in Taif, known today as Masjid Ibn Abbas, though other views have also been given.
