The Prophet ﷺ was on one of his journeys when the people grew thirsty. The swift among them rushed ahead, but I stayed close to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that night. He said, "May Allah preserve you just as you have preserved His Prophet."
أن النبي ﷺ كان في سفر له فعطشوا، فانطلق سرعان الناس، فلزمت رسول الله ﷺ تلك الليلة، فقال: حفظك الله بما حفظت به نبيه.
Muslim (681) narrated it through Sulayman bin Mughira, from Thabit, from Abdullah bin Rabah Ansari, who said, "Abu Qatada narrated to us," and he related it within a long hadith, which is mentioned in its proper place.Abu Dawud (5228) narrated it from Musa bin Ismail, who said, "Hammad narrated to us," from Thabit Bunani, with this same chain, but in abridged form.
