The Prophet ﷺ said, "Abu Dharr."I replied, "At your service and pleasure, Messenger of Allah, may I be your ransom."
قال النبي ﷺ: يا أبا ذر، فقلت: لبيك وسعديك يا رسول الله، وأنا فداؤك.
Abu Dawud (5226) narrated it through Hammad bin Abu Sulayman, from Zayd bin Wahb, from Abu Dharr, who related it.Bukhari narrated it in Adab al-Mufrad (803), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (195), both through Hammad bin Abu Sulayman, as part of a lengthy account. Its chain is hasan because of Hammad bin Abu Sulayman, for he is hasan al-hadith.The account was narrated by Bukhari in the Book of Seeking Permission (6268), and by Muslim in the Book of Zakat (94:32) following hadith (991), both through Amash, from Zayd bin Wahb, from him, without his saying, "and I am your ransom," which is mentioned in the Book of Zuhd.
