The Prophet ﷺ said, "For one of you to have his belly filled with pus that consumes him is better than to have it filled with poetry."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لأن يمتلئ جوف أحدكم قيحا يريه، خير من أن يمتلئ شعرا.
Muslim reported it in the chapter on poetry (2258) through the route of Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, "Shuba narrated to us, from Qatada, from Yunus bin Jubayr, from Muhammad bin Saad, from Saad," and he related it.
