The companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "One of you may utter a word that pleases Allah, never imagining how far it will reach, and Allah records His pleasure for him because of it until the Day he meets Him. And one of you may utter a word that angers Allah, never imagining how far it will reach, and Allah records His anger against him because of it until the Day he meets Him."
صاحب رسول الله ﷺ يقول: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إن أحدكم ليتكلم بالكلمة من رضوان الله ما يظن أن تبلغ ما بلغت فيكتب الله له بها رضوانه إلى يوم يلقاه، وإن أحدكم ليتكلم بالكلمة من سخط الله ما يظن أن تبلغ ما بلغت، فيكتب الله عليه بها سخطه إلى يوم يلقاه.
Tirmidhi (2319) and Ibn Majah (2669) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (280), Hakim (1/45), and Bayhaqi in Shuab (4606) all graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Muhammad bin Amr bin Alqama Laythi, who said, my father narrated to me, from my grandfather, who said, I heard Bilal bin Harith Muzani, and he mentioned it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith, and several others narrated it from Muhammad bin Amr in a similar manner, saying, from Muhammad bin Amr, from his father, from his grandfather, from Bilal bin Harith. Malik also narrated this hadith from Muhammad bin Amr, from his father, from Bilal bin Harith, without mentioning 'from his grandfather' in it." End of quote.The correct version is what the group narrated, from Muhammad bin Amr bin Alqama, from his father, from his grandfather, from Bilal bin Harith, and they are numerous. Its chain is hasan because of Amr bin Alqama, the father of Muhammad, for he is "acceptable" since he was corroborated. See its referencing in the tafsir of Surah Qaf.
