The body's limbs rebuke the tongue, saying, "Fear Allah concerning us, for if you remain upright, we remain upright, and if you become crooked, we become crooked."
الأعضاء تكفر اللسان، تقول: اتق الله فينا، فإنك إن استقمت استقمنا، وإن اعوججت اعوججنا.
Abu Dawud Tayalisi (2323) narrated it from Hammad bin Zayd, from Abu Sahba, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Abu Saeed Khudri, who mentioned it. Hammad said, "I do not know it except as a raised report (marfu)." Tirmidhi (2407) narrated it from Muhammad bin Musa Basri, who said, Hammad bin Zayd narrated to us, from Abu Sahba, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Abu Saeed Khudri, raising it (rafa'ahu), and he mentioned it. Ahmad (11908) narrated it from Affan, from Hammad bin Zayd, similarly, and in it the narrator (namely Hammad bin Zayd) said, "I do not know it except that he raised it," and this doubt does not harm the position of whoever transmitted it from him with certainty.Bayhaqi said in Shuab (4595), after narrating it from Abu Bakr bin Furak with his chain going back to Abu Dawud Tayalisi, "In Abu Bakr's version, Hammad said, 'I do not know it except as a raised report (marfu),'" and this points to Hammad bin Zayd's preference for treating it as raised, except that Tirmidhi said, "This is a hadith we do not know except through the report of Hammad bin Zayd, and several others have narrated it from Hammad bin Zayd without raising it." And Allah knows best.Its chain of transmission is hasan, on account of Abu Sahba Kufi, from whom a group of narrators transmitted, and whom Ibn Hibban rated trustworthy.
