Zaynab bint Jahsh said, "My name was Barrah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ named me Zaynab."She also said, "Zaynab bint Jahsh came in to see him, and her name was Barrah, so he named her Zaynab."
كان اسمي برة، فسماني رسول الله ﷺ زينب، قالت: ودخلت عليه زينب بنت جحش، واسمها برة فسماها زينب.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Manners (2142:18) via Walid bin Kathir, who said, Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata told me, Zaynab bint Umm Salama told me, she said, and she mentioned it.
