The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, or he said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When the strap of one of your sandals breaks, or whoever has the strap of his sandal break, let him not walk in only one sandal until he repairs the strap, nor walk in only one leather sock, nor eat with his left hand, nor sit wrapped in a single garment with his knees drawn up, nor wrap himself in the Samma manner."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Clothing (2099:71) through several routes from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who said, then he mentioned it.His words "shisi" refers to the strap of the sandal, which is the part that goes between the toes and passes through the hole at the front of the sandal that is tied to the strap. Its plural is shusu. It is narrated from Ibn Abbas that he said, "It is part of the sunnah that when a man sits down, he should remove his sandals and place them beside him."Abu Dawud narrated it (4138), and Bayhaqi narrated it through his route in Shuab (5870), from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Safwan bin Isa narrated to us, who said, Abdullah bin Harun narrated to us, from Ziyad bin Saad, from Abu Nahik, from Ibn Abbas, who said, then he mentioned it. Bukhari also narrated it through this same route in Adab al-Mufrad (1190).Abdullah bin Harun is al-Hijazi, also called al-Kufi, perhaps because he settled in Kufa, or the reverse. No one narrated from him except Safwan bin Isa, and no one has confirmed him as reliable, so he falls among the unknown narrators. In Taqrib it says, "Acceptable," meaning if corroborated, but he has not been corroborated, so his hadith is weak in transmission.
