Ibn Majah (3618) narrated it from Ali bin Muhammad, who said, Abu Muawiya narrated to us, from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who said, then he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Tirmidhi (1775) narrated it from Zuhr bin Marwan Basri, who said, Harith bin Nabhan narrated to us, from Mamar, from Ammar bin Abu Ammar, from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a man from putting on his sandals while standing.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith. Ubaydullah bin Amr Raqqi narrated this hadith from Mamar, from Qatada, from Anas, but neither of the two versions is sound according to the scholars of hadith, and Harith bin Nabhan is not, in their view, a reliable memorizer of hadith, nor do we know of any basis for Qatada's hadith from Anas."I say, this Harith bin Nabhan is discarded (matruk), as Abu Hatim and Nasai stated, and Bukhari said, his hadith is objectionable (munkar al-hadith).As for the hadith of Anas, Tirmidhi (1776) narrated it from Abu Jafar Samnani, who said, Sulayman bin Ubaydullah Raqqi narrated to us, who said, Ubaydullah bin Amr Raqqi narrated to us, from Qatada, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a man from putting on his sandals while standing.Tirmidhi said, "This is a gharib hadith." Muhammad bin Ismail said, "This hadith is not sound, nor is the hadith of Mamar, from Ammar bin Abu Ammar, from Abu Hurairah."
