Umm Sulaym, his mother, took a mudd of barley, ground it coarsely, and made of it a dish called khatifa. She then squeezed out a skin of clarified butter she had, and sent me to the Prophet ﷺ. I came to him while he was sitting among his companions and invited him.He asked, "And who is with me?"So I returned and said, "He is asking, 'And who is with me?'"Abu Talha came out to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, it is only something Umm Sulaym has prepared."So he entered, and the food was brought. He said, "Send in ten men to me." They came in and ate until they were full. Then he said, "Send in another ten." They came in and ate until they were full. Then he said, "Send in another ten," until he had counted forty. Then the Prophet ﷺ himself ate, then rose. I kept looking to see whether anything of it had decreased.
