I was with Marwan bin Hakam when Abu Saeed Khudri came in to see him.Marwan bin Hakam asked him, "Did you hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he forbade blowing into a drink?"Abu Saeed replied, "Yes."A man said, "Messenger of Allah, I cannot quench my thirst with a single breath."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Then take the cup away from your mouth and breathe."The man said, "But I see something floating in it."He said, "Then pour it out."
كنت عند مروان بن الحكم، فدخل عليه أبو سعيد الخدري، فقال له مروان بن الحكم: أسمعت من رسول الله ﷺ أنه نهى عن النفخ في الشراب؟ فقال له أبو سعيد: نعم، فقال له رجل: يا رسول الله، إني لا أروى من نفس واحد، فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: فأبن القدح عن فيك، ثم تنفس، قال: فإني أرى القذاة فيه، قال: فأهرقها.
Malik related it in his description of the Prophet ﷺ (12), from Ayub bin Habib, the freedman of Saad bin Abu Waqqas, from Abu Muthanna Juhani, who said, and he mentioned it.Tirmidhi (1887), Ibn Hibban (5327), and Hakim (4/139) all related it through his chain. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith." Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its isnad."I say, its isnad is hasan because of Abu Muthanna Juhani, from whom two narrators reported, and Ibn Hibban authenticated him.
