I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Satan is present with each of you in everything he does, even when he eats. So if a morsel falls from one of you, let him remove whatever dirt is on it and eat it, and not leave it for Satan. When he finishes, let him lick his fingers, for he does not know in which part of his food the blessing lies."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks (2033: 135) from Uthman bin Abu Shayba, who said, Jareer narrated to us, from Amash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who said, and he mentioned it.Ibn Hibban (5253) and Bayhaqi (5468) both narrated it through the route of Ibn Jurayj, who said, Abu Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah narrating from the Prophet ﷺ, and he added in it, "The devil lies in wait for people on every occasion, even at their meals, so no one should lift the bowl without licking it or having it licked, for the last part of the food contains blessing."Its chain of transmission is sahih.
