The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you eats, let him eat with his right hand, and let him drink with his right hand, for Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إذا أكل أحدكم فليأكل بيمينه، وليشرب بيمينه؛ فإن الشيطان يأكل بشماله ويشرب بشماله.
Ibn Abu Shayba narrated it in al-Musannaf (5/555-556, Lahham edition), Ahmad (13097), and Abu Yaala (4772-4774), all of them through various routes from Hisham bin Hassan, from Abdullah bin Dahqan, from Anas bin Malik, who related it.Bukhari mentioned it in Tarikh al-Kabir through various routes from Hisham, with the same wording.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abdullah bin Dahqan, who is also said to be Ubaydullah bin Dahqan, a freed servant of Anas bin Malik. Hisham bin Urwa and Hisham bin Hassan narrated from him. Ibn Hibban mentioned him in al-Thiqat (5/68), and Bukhari said, "His hadith is among the Basrans," Tarikh al-Kabir (5/381).
