My beloved friend ﷺ instructed me, "When you cook a stew, add plenty of water to it, then look to the households of your neighbors and share some of it with them in a kind manner."In another wording, "Abu Dharr, when you cook a stew, add plenty of water to it and look after your neighbors."
إن خليلي ﷺ أوصاني: إذا طبخت مرقا فأكثر ماءه، ثم انظر أهل بيت من جيرانك، فأصبهم منها بمعروف. وفي لفظ: يا أبا ذر إذا طبخت مرقة فأكثر ماءها، وتعاهد جيرانك.
Muslim narrated it in Righteousness and Kinship Ties (2625:143) through several routes from Ibn Idris, who reported to us from Shubah, from Abu Imran Jawni, from Abdullah bin Samit, from Abu Dharr, who said, and then he mentioned it. Muslim also narrated it (2625:142) through the route of Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Samad Ammi, from Abu Imran Jawni, with the second wording.
