The Prophet ﷺ said regarding the captives of Badr, "Had Mutim bin Adi been alive and spoken to me about these vile ones, I would have released them for his sake."
أن النبي ﷺ قال في أسارى بدر: لو كان المطعم بن عدي حيا، ثم كلمني في هؤلاء النتنى لتركتهم له.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of the Obligation of Khumus (3139), from Ishaq bin Mansur, who said, Abdul-Razzaq informed us, Mamar informed us, from Zuhri, from Muhammad bin Jubayr, from his father, who said, then he mentioned it.Mutim bin Adi is the son of Nawfal bin Abd Manaf bin Qusayy. He is the one who stood up to annul the document of the boycott, and he used to show compassion toward the people of the Shib and maintain ties with them in secret. He is also the one who granted protection to the Prophet ﷺ when he returned from Taif.
