The Prophet ﷺ made a distribution similar to others he had made before. A man from the Ansar said, "By Allah, this is a distribution by which the face of Allah was not intended."I said to myself, "As for me, I will surely tell the Prophet ﷺ." So I came to him while he was among his companions and spoke to him privately. This troubled the Prophet ﷺ, his face changed, and he became angry, until I wished I had never told him.Then he said, "Musa was hurt with more than this, yet he remained patient."
قسم النبي ﷺ قسمة كبعض ما كان يقسم، فقال رجل من الأنصار: والله إنها لقسمة ما أريد بها وجه الله، قلت: أما أنا لأقولن للنبي ﷺ، فأتيته وهو في أصحابه فساررته، فشق ذلك على النبي ﷺ وتغير وجهه وغضب، حتى وددت أني لم أكن أخبرته، ثم قال: قد أوذي موسى بأكثر من ذلك فصبر.
Bukhari reported it in al-Adab (6100), and Muslim in al-Zakat (1062:141), both through the route of Hafs bin Ghiyath, who said, Amash narrated to us, he said, I heard Shaqiq say, Abdullah said, and he mentioned it.
