Anas bin Malik reported,

Ibn Umm Maktum came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was speaking with Ubayy bin Khalaf, and the Prophet turned away from him. So Allah revealed, "He frowned and turned away" [Abasa 80:1]. The narrator said, Because of this the Prophet ﷺ used to honor him.Qatada said, Anas bin Malik informed me, "I saw him on the day of Qadisiyyah wearing a coat of mail and carrying a black banner," meaning Ibn Umm Maktum.

في قوله تعالى: {عبس وتولي}

عن أنس

جاء ابن أم مكتوم إلى النبي ﷺ وهو يكلم أبي بن خلف، فأعرض عنه، فأنزل الله: {عبس وتول} قال: فكان النبي ﷺ لذلك يكرمه. قال قتادة: وأخبرني أنس بن مالك قال: رأيته يوم القادسية، وعليه درع، ومعه راية سوداء، يعني ابن أم مكتوم.
