Ayesha reported,

A group of Jews sought permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Death be upon you."I said, "Rather, upon you be death and the curse."He said, "Ayesha, Allah is gentle and loves gentleness in every matter."I said, "Did you not hear what they said?"He replied, "I said, 'And upon you.'"
