Some men and women would perform ablution together during the time of the Prophet ﷺ.
كان الرجال والنساء يتوضؤون في زمان النبي ﷺ جميعا.
Malik narrated it in "Purification" (15) from Nafi, from Abdullah bin Umar, who related the same, and Bukhari narrated it from him in "Wudu" (193). Abu Dawud (79, 80) added, "from a single vessel." And in another version, "We would dip our hands into it."When a companion attributes an action to the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the ruling is that it counts as attributed directly to the Prophet according to the correct view, and this is the position adopted by Bukhari, which is why he included this hadith in his Sahih.
