Had Muhammad concealed anything of what was revealed to him, he would have concealed this verse, "And when you said to the one whom Allah had favored and whom you had favored, 'Keep your wife and fear Allah,' while you concealed within yourself what Allah was to disclose, and you feared the people, while Allah has more right that you fear Him" [Ahzab 33:37].
ولو كان محمد كاتما شيئا مما أنزل عليه لكتم هذه الآية: {وإذ تقول للذي أنعم الله عليه وأنعمت عليه أمسك عليك زوجك واتق الله وتخفي في نفسك ما الله مبديه وتخشى الناس والله أحق أن تخشاه}
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (177:288), from Muhammad bin Muthanna, who said, Abdul-Wahhab related to us, Dawud related to us, from Shaybi, from Masruq, who said, "I was reclining near Ayesha when she said..." and he mentioned it in a long hadith.As for His saying, "and you conceal within yourself what Allah is going to reveal" [Ahzab 33:37], what the Prophet ﷺ concealed within himself at that time was his intention that if Zayd bin Haritha divorced his wife Zaynab bint Jahsh, he would marry her himself. This was to console her, because she had married by the Prophet's ﷺ command, and she was one of the noblewomen of Quraysh.This is the most evident of the sayings in the tafsir of this noble verse. Ibn Jareer Tabari and others have mentioned reports and sayings that are not fitting for the station of prophethood.
