Tabarani (3705) narrated it through two routes, from Abu Ahmad Zubayri, who said, Sufyan narrated to us, from Ajlah, from Abdullah bin Abu Huzayl, from Khabab, and he related the hadith.Abu Naeem narrated it in al-Hilyah (4/362) by this same route, then said, "It is unusual as a hadith from Ajlah and Thawri, and Abu Ahmad alone transmitted it."I say, this chain is hasan. Its narrators are the narrators of Muslim, except for Ajlah, who is Ibn Abdullah bin Hujayyah, a Shia narrator who is truthful in speech.As for his statement, "When they perished, they took to storytelling," Ibn Athir said, "That is, they relied on words and abandoned action, and this was the cause of their ruin, or conversely, when they perished by abandoning action, they turned to storytelling instead."
