I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Most of the hypocrites of this nation are its reciters."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: أكثر منافقي هذه الأمة قراؤها.
Imam Ahmad (17367) narrated it from Abu Abdul-Rahman, who said, "Ibn Lahia related to us, Abu Musab related to us, saying, 'I heard Uqba bin Amir'," and he then recounted the hadith. Its isnad is hasan because of Abu Musab, who is Musharrah bin Han. He is a disputed narrator, but Ibn Main, Ajli, and Dhahabi in al-Kashif deemed him reliable, and Dhahabi said in al-Mizan, "He is truthful." Ibn Adi mentioned him in al-Kamil and said, "I hope there is no harm in him." Abu Abdul-Rahman is Abdullah bin Yazid Muqri, one of the Abadila who heard from Ibn Lahia before his memory became confused.
