The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The most beloved food to Allah is that over which many hands gather."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن أحب الطعام إلى الله ما كثرت عليه الأيدي.
Narrated by Abu Yaala (2046) and Tabarani in al-Awsat (7313), both via Khallad bin Aslam, who said, Abdul-Majid bin Abdul-Aziz bin Abu Rawwad told us, who said, Ibn Jurayj told us, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who said, then he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Abdul-Majid bin Abdul-Aziz, for his hadith is hasan when he does not err.In the same meaning is what was narrated from Umar bin Khattab, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Eat all together and do not separate, for the blessing is with the group." Narrated by Ibn Majah (3287) from Hasan bin Ali Khallal, who said, Hasan bin Musa told us, who said, Saeed bin Zayd told us, who said, Amr bin Dinar, the steward of the family of Zubayr, told us, saying, I heard Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar say, I heard my father say, I heard Umar bin Khattab say, then he related it. In the chain is Amr bin Dinar, the steward of the family of Zubayr, and he is daif.In the same meaning is also what was narrated from Wahshi bin Harb Habashi, that the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said, "O Messenger of Allah, we eat but do not become full." He said, "Perhaps you eat separately." They said, "Yes." He said, "Then gather together over your food, and mention the name of Allah over it, and it will be blessed for you." Narrated by Abu Dawud (3764), Ibn Majah (3286), Ahmad (16078), Ibn Hibban (5224), and Hakim (2/102), all of them via Walid bin Muslim, who said, Wahshi bin Harb told me, from his father, from his grandfather, then he related it. In the chain is Wahshi bin Harb, whose hadith is weak, and his father, about whom the Hafiz said, "acceptable," meaning when corroborated, and I have not come across any corroboration for him.It was also narrated from Anas bin Malik, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never ate alone. Narrated by Kharaiti in Makarim al-Akhlaq with a daif chain. It has been established in the Sahih that the food of one suffices for two, and the food of two suffices for four, and perhaps that is because of the blessing of eating together.
