I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Food enough for one suffices two, food enough for two suffices four, and food enough for four suffices eight."

سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: طعام الواحد يكفي الاثنين، وطعام الاثنين يكفي الأربعة، وطعام الأربعة يكفي الثمانية.

There is no blame upon you whether you eat together or separately. But when you enter houses, give greetings of peace upon each other, a greeting from Allah, blessed and good. Thus does Allah make clear to you the verses that you may understand."

Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks (2059) through several routes from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Abu Zubayr told me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah say, and then he mentioned it.
