She reported that the sun was eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the people in prayer. He stood and prolonged the standing, then bowed and prolonged the bowing, then stood again and prolonged the standing, though shorter than the first standing. Then he bowed and prolonged the bowing, though shorter than the first bowing. Then he rose and prostrated. He did the same in the second cycle. Then he finished, and the sun had cleared. He addressed the people, praised Allah and extolled Him, then said, "The sun and the moon are two of Allah's signs. They are not eclipsed for the death or the life of anyone. So when you see that, call upon Allah, proclaim His greatness, and give in charity."Then he said, "Community of Muhammad, by Allah, no one is more protective in honor than Allah against His male servant committing adultery or His female servant committing adultery. Community of Muhammad, by Allah, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much."
Malik narrated it in the chapter on the eclipse prayer (1), from Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Ayesha, and he related it as mentioned. Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on the eclipse (1044) from Abdullah bin Maslama, and Muslim in the chapter on the eclipse (901) from Qutayba bin Saeed, both of them from Malik with this same chain.
