I heard Maslama bin Muqlid, while he was seated on the pulpit addressing the people, saying, "People, do you not have enough in cotton and linen to spare you from silk? Here is a man among you who will tell you about the Messenger of Allah. Stand up, Uqba."So Uqba bin Amir stood up while I was listening, and he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever deliberately lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire.' And I bear witness that I heard him say, 'Whoever wears silk in this world, Allah will forbid him from wearing it in the Hereafter.'"
سمعت مسلمة بن مخلد- وهو قاعد على المنبر يخطب الناس- وهو يقول: يا أيها الناس، أما لكم في العصب والكتان ما يكفيكم من الحرير، وهذا رجل فيكم يخبركم عن رسول الله، قم يا عقبة. فقام عقبة بن عامر وأنا أسمع، فقال: إني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: من كذب علي متعمدا فليتبوأ مقعده من النار. وأشهد أني سمعته يقول: من لبس الحرير في الدنيا، حرمه أن يلبسه في الآخرة.
Ahmad (17431) and Abu Yaala (1751) both narrated it from Harun bin Maruf, who said, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, Amr, that is Ibn Harith al-Masri, informed me, that Hisham bin Abu Ruqayyah said, and then he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Hisham bin Abu Ruqayyah is trustworthy, one of the men listed in Tajil Manfaa. Ibn Hibban also graded it sahih, narrating it (5436) through the route of Ibn Wahb, with the same wording.
