He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "We are the last to come yet the first on the Day of Resurrection, even though they were given the Scripture before us. This is the day that was prescribed for them, but they differed concerning it, and Allah guided us to it. So the people follow us in this regard. The Jews observe it tomorrow, and the Christians the day after."
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول: نحن الآخرون السابقون يوم القيامة، بيد أنهم أوتوا الكتاب من قبلنا، ثم هذا يومهم الذي فرض عليهم، فاختلفوا فيه، فهدانا الله، فالناس لنا فيه تبع، اليهود غدا والنصارى بعد غد.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Friday Prayer (876), and Muslim in the Book of Friday Prayer (855), both through Abu Zinad, that Abdul-Rahman bin Hurmuz Araj, the freed slave of Rabia bin Harith, told him that he heard Abu Hurairah say, then he mentioned it, and the wording is Bukhari's.
