The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah decrees a matter in the heavens, the angels beat their wings in submission to His word, sounding like a chain dragged across a smooth rock. Then, when the terror leaves their hearts, they ask, 'What did your Lord say?' They reply to the one who asked, 'The truth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great.'The eavesdroppers among the jinn overhear it, and the eavesdroppers are arranged like this, one above the other." Sufyan demonstrated with his palm, turning it sideways and spreading his fingers apart."One of them catches the word and passes it down to the one beneath him, who then passes it to the one beneath him, until it reaches the tongue of a sorcerer or fortune-teller. Sometimes a shooting star strikes him before he can pass it on, and sometimes he passes it on before being struck. Then he mixes that word with a hundred lies, and people say, 'Did he not tell us on such-and-such a day that such-and-such would happen?' So he is believed because of that one word he heard from the heavens."
إن نبي الله ﷺ قال: إذا قضى الله الأمر في السماء ضربت الملائكة بأجنحتها خضعانا لقوله، كأنه سلسلة على صفوان، فإذا فزع عن قلوبهم قالوا: ماذا قال ربكم؟ قالوا للذي قال: الحق، وهو العلي الكبير، فيسمعها مسترقة السمع، ومسترق السمع هكذا بعضه فوق بعض-ووصف سفيان بكفه، فحرفها، وبدد بين أصابعه- فيسمع الكلمة، فيلقيها إلى من تحته، ثم يلقيها الآخر إلى من تحته، حتى يلقيها على لسان الساحر أو الكاهن، فربما أدرك الشهاب قبل أن يلقيها، وربما ألقاها قبل أن يدركه، فيكذب معها مائة كذبة، فيقال: أليس قد قال لنا يوم كذا وكذا وكذا وكذا، فيصدق بتلك الكلمة التي سمع من السماء.
