The Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me while I was in a state of major ritual impurity. He took my hand, and I walked along with him until he sat down. I slipped away, went to my quarters, performed the bath, and then returned while he was still seated.He asked, "Where were you, Abu Hurr?"I told him.He said, "Glory be to Allah, Abu Hurr! The believer does not become impure."In another narration, "The Muslim does not become impure."
لقيني رسول الله ﷺ، وأنا جنب، فأخذ بيدي، فمشيت معه حتى قعد، فانسللت فأتيت الرحل فاغتسلت، ثم جئت، وهو قاعد، فقال: أين كنت يا أبا هر؟ فقلت له. فقال: سبحان الله يا أبا هر إن المؤمن لا ينجس. وفي رواية: إن المسلم لا ينجس.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on ghusl (285) from Ayyash, who said, Abdul-Ala narrated to us, Humayd narrated to us, from Bakr, from Abu Rafi, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he related it. Muslim also narrated it in the chapter on menstruation (371) through the route of Humayd Tawil, from Abu Rafi, in similar wording. In Muslim's version, the mention of Bakr between Humayd and Abu Rafi is missing, and this is the case in all copies of Sahih Muslim, as Qadi Iyad stated. The correct version includes it, as Bukhari, the authors of the Sunan works, and other imams narrated it.The second narration is found in Bukhari (283), coming through another route from Humayd, with the same wording.
