The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to the watering place and asked for a drink. Abbas said, "Fadl, go to your mother and bring the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a drink from her."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give me something to drink from here."Abbas replied, "Messenger of Allah, they put their hands into it."He said again, "Give me a drink."So he drank from it. Then he went to Zamzam, where they were drawing water and working at it, and he said, "Carry on, for you are engaged in a righteous work." Then he added, "Were it not that you would be overwhelmed, I would come down myself until I placed the rope here," meaning on his shoulder, and he gestured to his shoulder.
أن رسول الله ﷺ جاء إلى السقاية، فاستسقى، فقال العباس: يا فضل اذهب إلى أمك، فائت رسول الله ﷺ بشراب من عندها. فقال: اسقني. قال: يا رسول الله إنهم يجعلون أيديهم فيه. قال: اسقني. فشرب منه، ثم أتى زمزم وهم يسقون ويعملون فيها، فقال: اعملوا فإنكم على عمل صالح ثم قال: لولا أن تغلبوا لنزلت حتى أضع الحبل على هذه يعني عاتقه، وأشار إلى عاتقه.
