There was no horseman among us on the day of Badr except Miqdad. I remember looking around and finding all of us asleep, except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who was beneath a tree praying and weeping until morning came.
ما كان فينا فارس يوم بدر غير المقداد، ولقد رأيتنا وما فينا إلا نائم، إلا رسول الله ﷺ تحت شجرة يصلي ويبكي حتى أصبح.
Ahmad (1023) and Abu Yaala (280) narrated it, and Ibn Khuzayma (899) and Ibn Hibban (2257) graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi, from Shubah, from Abu Ishaq, from Haritha bin Mudarrib, from Ali, who mentioned it.
