I stayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Medina for a year. Nothing held me back from migrating except the desire to ask questions. For when one of us migrated, he would not ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about anything. He said, So I asked him about righteousness and sin.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Righteousness is good character, and sin is what stirs unease in your soul and what you would hate for people to discover."
Reported by Muslim in "Righteousness and Kinship Ties" (15:2553), from Harun bin Saeed Ayli, who said, "Abdullah bin Wahb narrated to us, Muawiya, meaning Ibn Salih, narrated to me, from Abdul-Rahman bin Jubayr bin Nufayr, from his father, from Nawas bin Saman," and he related it.
