I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Allah dislikes three things for you: idle gossip, wasting wealth, and excessive questioning."
سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: إن الله كره لكم ثلاثا: قيل وقال، وإضاعة المال، وكثرة السؤال.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Zakat (1477), and Muslim related it in the Book of Rulings (13:593), both from the hadith of Ismail bin Ulaya, who said, Khalid Haddan told us, from Ibn Ashwa, from Shaybi, who said, the scribe of Mughira bin Shuba told me, Muawiya wrote to Mughira bin Shuba saying, "Write to me something you heard from the Prophet ﷺ." So he wrote to him, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say," and he mentioned it.The Muhajirun and Ansar had no license to ask for anything, unlike the bedouin Arabs and similar groups among the delegations who came to Madinah to learn the religion, then return to their lands as callers to it.
