Abdullah bin Abu Hadrad reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us to Idam. I set out with a group of Muslims, among them Abu Qatada Harith bin Rubai and Muhallam bin Junama bin Qays. We travelled until we reached the valley of Idam, where Amir Ashjai passed by us riding a young camel, carrying some small goods and a skin of milk. As he passed, he greeted us with the greeting of peace, so we held back from him. But Muhallam bin Junama attacked him and killed him over some grievance between the two of them, and he took his camel and his goods.When we came before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and reported to him what had happened, the Quran was revealed concerning us, "Believers, when you go forth in the way of Allah, investigate carefully, and do not say to one who offers you the greeting of peace, 'You are not a believer,' seeking the fleeting gains of this world. With Allah there are abundant spoils. You yourselves were once in the same state, and Allah bestowed His favor upon you. So investigate carefully. Indeed, Allah is fully aware of what you do" [Nisa 4:94].

عن عبد الله بن أبي حدرد، قال

بعثنا رسول الله ﷺ إلى إضم، فخرجت في نفر من المسلمين فيهم أبو قتادة الحارث بن ربعي ومحلم بن جنامة بن قيس، فخرجنا حتى إذا كنا ببطن إضم، مر بنا عامر الأشجعي على قعود له معه متيع ووطب من لبن، فلما مر بنا، سلم علينا، فأمسكنا عنه، وحمل عليه محلم بن جنامة فقتله بشيء كان بينه وبينه، وأخذ بعيره ومتيعه، فلما قمنا على رسول الله ﷺ، وأخبرناه الخبر، نزل فينا القرآن: {يأيها الذين ءامنوا إذا ضربتم في سبيل الله فتبينوا ولا تقولوا لمن ألقى إليكم السلام لست مؤمنا تبتغون عرض الحياة الدنيا فعند الله مغانم كثيرة كذلك كنتم من قبل فمن الله عليكم فتبينوا إن الله كان بما تعملون خبيرا}

His saying, "O you who believe, when you contract a debt for a specified term, write it down. And let a scribe write it between you in justice. Let no scribe refuse to write as Allah has taught him. So let him write and let the one who has the obligation dictate. And let him fear Allah his Lord and not diminish anything from it"
