Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

Some Muslims encountered a man with a small flock of sheep belonging to him. He said, "Peace be upon you," but they seized him, killed him, and took the flock. Then was revealed, "And do not say to one who offers you peace, 'You are not a believer'" [Nisa 4:94].

عن ابن عباس قال

لقي ناس من المسلمين رجلا في غنيمة له. فقال: السلام عليكم، فأخذوه فقتلوه، وأخذوا تلك الغنيمة. فنزلت: {ولا تقولوا لمن ألقى إليكم السلام لست مؤمنا}.
