The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Any man who has a slave girl whom he educates well, raises with good manners, then frees her and marries her, will have two rewards. And any man from the People of the Book who believed in his prophet and then believed in me, will have two rewards. And any slave who fulfills the rights owed to his masters and the rights owed to his Lord," meaning to me, "will have two rewards."Shaybi said, "Take this hadith free of charge, for indeed a man would once travel all the way to Medina for less than this."Abu Bakr reported from Abu Husayn, from Abu Burda, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ, "He freed her, then gave her a dowry."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: أيما رجل كانت عنده وليدة فعلمها فأحسن تعليمها، وأدبها فأحسن تأديبها، ثم أعتقها وتزوجها فله أجران. وأيما رجل من أهل الكتاب آمن بنبيه وآمن فله أجران وأيما مملوك أدى حق مواليه وحق ربه، فله يعني بي، أجران. قال الشعبي: خذها بغير شيء، وقد كان الرجل يرحل فيما دونه إلى المدينة. وقال أبو بكر، عن أبي حصين، عن أبي بردة، عن أبيه، عن النبي ﷺ: أعتقها ثم أصدقها.
Narrated by Bukhari in the Book of Marriage (5083) and Muslim in the Book of Faith (154:241), both from the hadith of Salih bin Salih Hamdani, who said, Shaybi told us, he said, Abu Burda told me, from his father, and he related the hadith. The wording here is Bukhari's. His saying, "He had a walida with him," the walida means a young girl or a slave woman, and the plural is walaid.
