A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Prophet of Allah, the male receives a share equal to that of two females, and the testimony of two women equals that of one man. Are we treated the same way in deeds as well? If a woman does a good deed, is only half a good deed recorded for her?"Then Allah Most High revealed this verse, "And do not wish" [Nisa 4:32], meaning that it is justice from Me, and I am the one who ordained it.
في قوله تعالى: {ولا تتمنوا ما فضل الله به بعضكم على بعض للرجال نصيب مما أكتسبوا وللنساء نصيب مما اكتسبن}

Ibn Abu Hatim narrated it in his tafsir (3/935) and Diya in al-Mukhtarah (10/116-117), both from the hadith of Ashath bin Ishaq, from Jafar bin Abu Mughira, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, as mentioned. Its chain is hasan because of Ashath bin Ishaq, who is Qummi, and his teacher Jafar bin Abu Mughira, for both of them make the hadith hasan.His saying, "for it is a just measure from Me, and I made it so," means it is a confirmation from Allah, the Exalted, that He is the one who made the male's share equal to twice that of the female as a matter of His own justice .Some scholars have held that a woman's deeds count as half of a man's deeds, because Allah, the Exalted, forbade a woman from wishing for what Allah has favored men with, and likewise forbade a man from wishing and saying, "If only I had the wealth and family of so-and-so." Rather, he should ask Allah for His bounty. This was said by Ibn Abbas in his tafsir of the words of Allah, the Exalted, "And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others" [Nisa 4:32].
