Regarding "And to everyone We have appointed heirs" [Nisa 4:33], he said it means inheritors.As for "and those with whom you have made a pledge" [Nisa 4:33], when the Muhajirun first arrived in Madinah, a Muhajir would inherit from an Ansari to the exclusion of the Ansari's own blood relatives, because of the bond of brotherhood the Prophet ﷺ had established between them. Then the verse "And to everyone We have appointed heirs" was revealed, leaving them with support, assistance, and sincere counsel, while the right of inheritance was abolished, though one could still leave a bequest for the other.
{ولكل جعلنا موالى} قال: ورثة. {والذين عقدت أيمنكم} كان المهاجرون لما قدموا المدينة يرث المهاجري الأنصاري دون ذوي رحمه، للأخوة التي آخى النبي ﷺ بينهم، فلما نزلت: {ولكل جعلنا موالي} من النصر والرفادة والنصيحة، وقد ذهب الميراث، ويوصي له.
Bukhari narrated it in tafsir (4580) from Salit bin Muhammad, he said, "Abu Usama narrated to us, from Idris, from Talha bin Musarrif, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas," and he mentioned it.Then Bukhari said, "Abu Usama heard from Idris, and Idris heard from Talha."I say, this is as he said. For he narrated it in the Book of Inheritance (6727) from Ishaq bin Ibrahim, who said, "I asked Abu Usama, 'Did Idris narrate this to you?' He said, 'Talha narrated it to us, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas,'" and he mentioned something similar.Ibn Abu Hatim also narrated it in his tafsir from Abu Saeed Ashaj, who said, "Abu Usama narrated to us, he said, 'Idris Awdi narrated to us, he said, "Talha bin Musarrif informed me, from Saeed,"'" with something similar.
