The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delayed the night prayer one evening, then came out to the masjid and found the people waiting for the prayer. He said, "There is no one among the followers of these other religions who remembers Allah at this hour except you."The narrator said, "So Allah revealed this verse, 'They are not all alike. Among the People of the Book is an upright community that recites the verses of Allah through the hours of the night while they prostrate themselves' [Al Imran 3:113]."
أخر رسول الله ﷺ ليلة صلاة العشاء، ثم خرج إلى المسجد، فإذا الناس ينتظرون الصلاة، فقال: أما إنه ليس من هذه الأديان أحد يذكر الله هذه الساعة غيركم، قال: فأنزل الله هذه الآية: {ليسوا سواء من أهل الكتاب أمة قائمة يتلون ءايت الله واناء اليل وهم يسجدون}.
Ahmad (3760), Abu Yaala (5306), and Bazzar - Kashf Astar (375) reported it, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (1530), all of them from the hadith of Asim bin Abu Najud, from Zirr bin Hubaysh, from Ibn Masud, who mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Asim bin Abu Najud, for his hadith is hasan.
