Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

He was narrating about the Farewell Pilgrimage of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and went through the entire account until he mentioned the Prophet's ﷺ sermon on the Day of Arafah, in which he ﷺ spoke about women, saying, "Fear Allah concerning women, for you have taken them by the trust of Allah, and you have made their private parts lawful by the word of Allah. Your right over them is that they do not allow anyone you dislike to sit on your bedding. If they do so, then strike them in a manner that is not severe. Their right over you is that you provide for their food and clothing in a fair manner..." and the hadith continues.

His saying, "And divorced women shall wait for three menstrual periods, and it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs if they believe in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands have more right to take them back during that period if they desire reconciliation. And they have rights similar to those over them in kindness, but men have a degree over them. And Allah is Mighty, Wise"
