The Prophet ﷺ said, "The upper hand is better than the lower hand. Begin with those under your care. The best charity is that given out of surplus wealth. Whoever seeks to remain chaste, Allah will keep him chaste, and whoever seeks to be self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: اليد العليا خير من اليد السفلى، وابدأ بمن تعول، وخير الصدقة عن ظهر غنى، ومن يستعفف يعفه الله، ومن يستغن يغنه الله.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on zakat (1427) from Musa bin Ismail, who said, Wahib narrated to us, who said, Hisham narrated to us, from his father, from Hakeem bin Hizam, who related it.Muslim also narrated it in the chapter on zakat (1034) through another route from Hakeem bin Hizam, in abbreviated form.
